A crag in the sun

The most amazing series of cliff runs across an escarpment above the town of Portmadog. Once sea cliffs these buttress are now land locked, but being at a low altitude and south facing, means that much bad weather blows across them, and when the mountains are shrouded in cloud and rain this area can be drenched in sun.

Areas Covered

The escarpment runs for several miles and features several popular and not so buttress. Each area is slightly different to the others, all have excellent rock and routes across the whole spectrum of grades. The areas covered by this guide are:
